U.S. Navy Pacific Partnership trains Casa Vida care team in mental health & self-care

Pacific Partnership trained the Casa Vida Dili care team in staff mental health and self-care through sessions on stress, trauma and grief.

The U.S. Navy Pacific Partnership team conducted a specialized health and wellness training for the Casa Vida Dili care team — nurses, midwives, social workers, psychologists and volunteers. Three sessions focused on supporting staff mental health while they care for women and children in need: Stress & Burnout Management; Trauma & Vicarious Traumatization; and Navigating Grief & Loss. "The goal of Pacific Partnership is to build strong relationships and share practical expertise — like the Navy's 'Warrior Toughness' principles — while learning from local staff so they can better serve their community," a Navy representative said.

Casa Vida Timor-Leste is committed to protecting women and children from gender-based violence, providing safe shelter, care and a path forward since 2008.
